Christmas Event with MLB player, Hisashi Iwakuma in RMH Sendai

January 10, 2014

MLB Player, Hisashi Iwakuma of Seattle Mariners visited the RMH Sendai with Christmas gifts again this year to encourage children in the House on Monday, December 23.  He has supported the House since his days as a Rakuten Eagles Team member and it was his 4th visit to RMH Sendai.

As Christmas was just around the corner, he decorated a Christmas tree with 15 children and Ronald McDonald, goodwill ambassador of RMH. Children wrote their wishes and dreams for the future on ornaments and put them on the tree with Iwakuma. Their beautiful Christmas tree was finally completed with illumination!

Masato Oyamada (13 years old) who lives in Iwate Prefecture plays basketball and dreams of playing wheelchair basketball at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo in 2020!  After hearing big dreams of the children, Iwakuma said, “Children fill me with courage and cheer me up every time I visit this house. I am very happy to support children in Miyagi where I got a lot of support and chances to develop myself. I hope they will thrive with big dreams! I will come back again next year to see children.”
